Young buds of an annual herbaceous variety of “yanagitade” in the family Tadaceae, picked before the true leaves emerge. Also called “Akame” (red bud).
It is characterized by its tangy and pungent taste, and is mainly used as a garnish for sashimi and as a condiment.
Tade has long been known as a medicinal herb with ingredients that are good for the stomach, it contains the pungent ingredient tadeonal (polygodial), which has excellent bactericidal and antibacterial effects.
