What is Ikasumi-curry?

Ikasumi curry – squid ink curry – (イカスミカレー・イカ墨カレー) is,

1. curry with squid ink in it. Curry made with squid ink. Known as Tottori’s local curry and Tottori’s B-Grade Gourmet. San’in gourmet, Food from San-in region.

The curry is characterised by its pitch-black colour due to the inclusion of squid ink, which gives the curry an impressive and strong visual impact and a rich taste with the added flavour of the squid ink.

It is served at the Ajiroya restaurant in Iwami Town, Tottori Prefecture. There is also a ‘squid ink cutlet curry’ with a cutlet on top, as well as a ‘soft cream = squid ink soft’ containing squid ink.

Curry in retort packs such as Tottori Squid Ink Curry, Daisen Squid Ink Curry and Sakaiminato Squid Ink Curry are also commercially available.
