Champuru / Chanpuru is an Okinawan home-style dish consisting of stir-fried vegetables, tofu, eggs, and other ingredients. It is known as one of Okinawa’s local dishes.
“Chanpuru” means “mixed together” or “put together” in Okinawan, and as the name implies, the ingredients used in this dish are stir-fried and mixed together to create a rich flavor. It is especially known as one of the staple dishes in Okinawan home cooking.
It is a dish that is known as one of the classic Okinawan dishes, and includes “Goya Chanpuru” with Goya (bitter melon), Somen Chanpuru with Somen (somen noodles), Fu Chanpuru with Fu, Tamana Chanpuru with Tamana (cabbage), Marminar Chanpuru with Marminas (bean sprouts), and Chikina Chanpuru with chikina (mustard greens), and so on.
