Sobameshi

Soba-meshi (buckwheat rice, buckwheat meal, Sobameshi) is

1. a dish made by stir-frying rice and buckwheat together.

It is made by stir-frying Soba noodle(buckwheat noodle) together with rice and meat, shredded or chopped cabbage, leeks or other vegetables, and seasoned with sauce or other ingredients.

The main ingredient used for the Noodles is yakisoba noodles or Chinese noodles, which are stir-fried in short strips using an iron or similar tool, so that the resulting dish looks like a mixture of rice and short noodles. It is said to be a B-class gourmet and local gourmet dish originating from Okonomiyaki restaurants in Kobe.

Today, it can be found at izakaya (Japanese style pubs) and teppan restaurants throughout Japan.
