Matagi-meshi (またぎ飯・またぎめし) is,
A mixed rice dish containing pheasant meat, burdock root, maitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, etc. It is one of the local and traditional dishes of Aomori Prefecture.
”Matagi” is a term used to describe people who have long hunted in groups in the mountains of Hokkaido and the Tohoku region, observing strict customs and practices, and Matagimeshi is an adaptation of the mixed rice favoured by the matagi.
